MaDora Frey’s Available Light explores the artist’s romantic regard for both the natural and built environment in her search for the sublime. She employs colored gels and various reflecting materials to create a site-specific environment that destabilizes the corporeal world into gradations of light and shadow. Frey employs the dynamic properties of light like reflection, refraction, and color to subtly shift the viewer's experience toward a sense of wonderment as viewed through the lens of the mythical and the feminine.
